The Hay OptiMizer® is a durable, slow-feed hay feeder designed to promote natural grazing behavior in horses while minimizing hay waste and saving time for caregivers. Constructed from Linear Low-Density Polyethylene (LLDPE)—the same material used in playground equipment—the feeder features rounded corners for enhanced safety and UV protection for longevity.

Measuring 48 inches in length and width, and 34 inches in height, the Hay OptiMizer® can hold up to 150 pounds of hay, equivalent to two small square bales. Its stainless steel slide arm allows for quick, one-handed operation, enabling the feeder to be filled in under a minute. The knotless nylon netting with 1.5-inch openings drapes over the hay, encouraging horses to eat slowly with their heads in a natural, lowered position, thereby mimicking grazing and promoting better digestion.

The feeder accommodates 2 to 4 horses feeding simultaneously and includes 12 drainage holes around its base to prevent hay spoilage from moisture. Its lightweight design, approximately 100 pounds when empty, and built-in handholds make it easy to transport and reposition as needed.

By regulating hay consumption and preventing waste—research indicates that up to 50% of hay fed directly on the ground is wasted—the Hay OptiMizer® contributes to cost savings and cleaner paddocks. It also helps prevent overeating, supporting healthier body weight in horses.
